Rural Health, Inc. Marks National Health Center Week with 48 Years of Serving Southern Illinois

(Southern Illinois) – August 2 through 8 is National Health Center Week (NHCW), an annual event sponsored by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) to celebrate and increase awareness of America’s Community Health Centers (CHCs). NHCW is an opportunity to highlight the commitment and passion of CHC patients, staff, board members, and supporters who make it possible to provide quality, comprehensive healthcare services to patients across more than 17,000 communities nationwide.

Founded in 1978, Rural Health, Inc. (RHI) joins the NACHC and over 1,500 CHCs across the country to celebrate National Health Center Week to recognize the vital role health centers play in providing affordable, effective, comprehensive primary care to more than 52 million Americans, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. This year, CHCs celebrate how health centers use innovation to reach more patients and improve outcomes.

Health centers don’t just expanded access to care, they improve patient outcomes and save money. For just 1% of national health care spending, CHCs deliver primary care to 14% of the U.S. population and save the health care system billions of dollars each year by preventing costly hospital visits. Rural Health, Inc. is proud to be part of this critical mission.

Rural Health, Inc. takes great pride in its many regional partnerships that help patients who need advanced medical and cancer treatment, expanded behavioral support, and long and short-term housing, food, and transportation assistance.

In recent years, RHI has expanded care for the area that includes dental services in Goreville and a community pharmacy in Anna. Future plans for RHI involves completion of its new Metropolis Health Center this fall. In addition to services currently offered at their existing location in Metropolis, the new complex will provide dental and pharmacy services.

In celebration of National Health Center Week, Rural Health, Inc. invites residents to visit one of its health centers in Anna, Dongola, Goreville, Metropolis, or Vienna, August 3 through 7, to meet staff, learn about available services, receive one of several free health kits, and register to win a Visa $100 gift card.
