Get Covered Illinois Offers Limited-Time Enrollment for 2025 Health Plan Recipients

Get Covered Illinois is using its authority as a state-based marketplace to offer a limited-time Special Enrollment Period for customers previously enrolled in a 2025 health plan through HealthCare.gov.

According to Rural Health, Inc. (RHI), residents who qualify have through March 31 to enroll for insurance coverage. This extension offers more time for residents to find affordable plans on the state’s official marketplace.

Beginning in 2026, Illinois moved from HealthCare.gov to the state-based marketplace Get Covered Illinois, the state’s official health insurance marketplace. If you do not get coverage through public programs or if your job coverage is unaffordable, you can shop on the marketplace for a health plan that fits your needs. Get Covered Illinois is also the only place to get financial help to cover the costs of your coverage.

To qualify for this limited-time Special Enrollment Period, the enrollee must have been automatically renewed in a 2026 health plan through Get Covered Illinois, and have not made an active plan selection or terminated/canceled their coverage during this past Open Enrollment Period, and had not claimed their Get Covered Illinois account by February 1, 2026.

Anyone needing coverage can visit www.getcoveredillinois.gov or contact Rural Health, Inc. at 618-833-4471 and a member of our team will help them enroll, at no charge, regardless if they are a patient of RHI.

Rural Health, Inc. (RHI) is a not-for-profit organization serving Johnson, Massac, and Union counties in Illinois, designated by the federal government as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), whose mission is to provide quality services to all patients in need of healthcare while being committed to the overall health and well-being of the underserved.
