Celebrating 25 Years – Dr. Christine Lucas

Rural Health, Inc. (RHI) recently honored one of their very own. August 16, 2024 marked 25 years of service for Dr. Christine Lucas. Lucas joined the organization on August 16, 1999 and ever since then, has committed herself to providing care for the Southern Illinois region, especially the underserved. Throughout her tenure, Lucas has administered care for families and individuals of all ages through the organization’s Family Medicine services. “Through 25 years of service at Rural Health, Dr. Lucas has touched the lives of thousands of patients and their families, ” says Chief Medical Officer, Dr. William Ribbing. “Her devotion to the care of her patients through a deep sense of empathy exemplifies the best qualities of a Family Practitioner. Her presence has had a deep impact on the quality of healthcare not only in Union County but throughout Southern Illinois”.

Along with her work at RHI, Lucas’ accomplishments include involvement in the creation of the Abundant Health Resource Clinic in Carbondale, which provides primary care to uninsured residents of Jackson County, for which she served as the Volunteer Medical Director from 1999-2010, and time as an Associate Director of Hospice of Southern Illinois. RHI is honored to have such a compassionate and committed medical professional such as Lucas on their team, and believes the anniversary date is not just a milestone celebration, but a celebration of the lives changed by Lucas’ achievements and character. A staff celebration for Lucas took place at RHI’s main clinic in Anna on August 16.
