Rural Health, Inc. (RHI) is pleased to announce that the organization raised $2,445.68 for the research group, “Breakthrough T1D”. November was American Diabetes Awareness Month and to recognize the cause, the organization held its second annual online fundraiser for the group. $1,445.68 came from members of the community, various RHI employees, and the first grade classroom from Shawnee Elementary School. In the end, RHI went on to match a portion of the proceeds raised and contribute $1,000. Breakthrough T1D is a research and advocacy organization that funds research for the development of new therapies and treatments for Type 1 Diabetes. This fundraiser was part of RHI’s outreach for the awareness month, which included a community-wide awareness walk for World Diabetes Day. Fundraiser donors, community and RHI employees alike, were placed in the running to win a $50 gift card donated by the Anna Kroger, and the first grade class of Shawnee Elementary will be awarded with a pizza party for their effort (pizza donated by Pizza Villa in Anna). The organization wants to thank everyone that donated and helped to create another successful year for the fundraiser. RHI is also grateful to work with Breakthrough T1D and play a part in working towards a possible future without Type 1 Diabetes.
